My mom left very early this morning for a meeting and there was no food at home. She forgot to drop money for me before leaving and I knew she would not be coming back early. I was very hungry so I checked my bank account balance to know if my two thousand naira was still there. I opened the app but I could only see sixteen naira, I kept on refreshing the app, hoping it was network issue but the amount remained the same. That was when I remembered that I gave out the money the previous night. A girl chatted me up last night and told me that she needed two thousand naira urgently and asked me to lend her. I didn't even ask twice and asked her to send her account details. I transferred the money to her and she was thanking me profusely.
"Thank you so much, I will surely pay you back tomorrow morning." She said.
"No, you don't have to worry about paying me back, just take it."
"Really? Ahhhh, thank you so much." Broke person wey dey do giveaway, I said in my mind. Don't blame me, please. I was just trying to please the girl and maintain my steeze, yunno.
Now, this morning, I did not have any money and I was so hungry. I went to check my saving box and luckily, I found one thousand naira there. "Ahhh, thank God."
At least, I could buy buns and mineral with the money. So, I locked up the doors and stepped out to go and get my breakfast, adding a little bounce to my walk. I had not gone far when I saw my friend that insisted we called him G.O.D because they were the initials of his name Gabriel Odinaka Daniel. I wanted to hide the money I was holding because I knew he would want me to share my breakfast with him, but since he was coming out of their house, I guessed he had already eaten, so I continued with my guy-walk.
“G.O.D! The baddest one! How are you doing nah?” I hailed him.
“I am fine oo. I am just hungry. I've not eaten since morning.” *dramatic drumroll*
“Me too.”
“Guyyyy, is that not money you're holding? Come, let's go and buy something to eat”. I knew I should have hidden the money.
“No, G.O.D, I want to use the money for something else.” I said, hoping he would back off.
“Something else like what? Bro, bring the money, let's eat first. We'll find a way to replace it.”
“Replace what?” I held up the money for him to see. “It's one thousand naira oo, not one hundred naira.”
I never expected G.O.D to do what he did. He tried to grab the money and run away but because I was holding it tightly, the money tore.
I turned red with anger. I was boiling, you could see the steam coming out from my ears and that instant, I charged at him.
To cut the long story short, I left that place with a thousand naira note neater than the one I came out with and some bruises on G.O.D’s face. You can imagine what happened. Let me go and eat my buns and mineral first while waiting for my mom to come back. I will gist you guys later.
